Pole Building
Building Size: 30' x 60' x16'
Location: Mt. Airy, MD
The building shown here has changed sizes and shapes many times
from the initial design to the finished product. This customer's
main focus in building design was to get the maximum amount of storage
space without making the building larger than necessary.
Our first design utilized an attic truss which creates a storage
area in the truss itself. This solution did not provide a large
enough second floor to fit the customers needs. We decided that
a pole building with a 16 foot ceiling would work
best to provide the larger amount of storage necessary. This allows
for a second floor to be built inside the building as more storage
is needed.
During the design
process there was some concern with the overhead doors interfering
with the second floor. To

this, the smaller door was installed with a low headroom track so
the 2nd floor joists would clear the door. Also the taller door was
installed with a high lift track system which means the door will
lift vertically then make its turn and lay horizontally a few inches
below the 16ft ceiling. This allows the customer to utilize the entire
height of the building in the area of the door, also making it possible
to install a car lift. |
