| This
customer called in need of a building for storage. Initially, he was
not sure what size or type of building would best fit his needs. The
owner needed a building that would give him room to store 2 vehicles,
but also provide enough room for his collectables. Because of site
characteristics and zoning regulations it was decided a building with
attic trusses would provide the best solution. To
maximize the usable space on the second floor a decision was made
to use gambrel attic trusses, which produces a larger attic room than
an "a frame" style attic truss. |

Using
2x6 walls and a 2x10 yellow pine bottom chord on the trusses the
building is able to support a greater amount of weight without the
need of a support beam down the center of the building. We provided
the customer with color samples of vinyl siding and shingles so
he could compare them with his existing home. This photograph shows
the type of vinyl siding and 3 tab shingles used on the building.
The customer chose this combination which exactly matched the materials
and colors that were used on his home. The overhead doors on this
building are eight feet tall. The decision was made to upgrade from
the standard residential door height of 7 feet to better accommodate
the owners vehicles. The customer also chose to include 2 windows
and an entry door with windows to introduce more light inside the
building.
