It is important that you check with your local officials and code enforcement officer before planning to construct your garage or pole building. You will need to have our plans inspected for their approval. Most cities, towns, and municipalities require building permits before any construction of a permanent building.

The plans included in our kit, along with the basic plot plan supplied by you, will be very helpful when you apply for various permits. The location of your building, distances from any existing buildings, property lines, roads, etc., should be included in your plot plan.

Our posts meet International Building Code (IBC) Section 2308.1 Preservative-treated wood. This section and Section 1805.7 specify that wood posts shall be treated in accordance with the American Wood Preservers Association (AWPA) standard C2 or C4. Waterborne preservatives are the preferred method of treatment for wood in contact with the ground. The minimum waterborne treatment retention for posts in post frame buildings is 0.6 pounds per cubic foot (pcf), Southern Pine has long been a preferred species for treatment because its cellular structure permits deep uniform penetration of the preservatives.
