About Pole Buildings Pole buildings consist of basically 6" x 6" posts, wood roof trusses, steel siding and steel roofing. The walls and roof are generally framed with 2" x 4"s in-between the 6" x 6" posts, as well as the trusses. Since the poles are anchored into the ground, pole buildings do not need a foundation or concrete slab. However, a concrete slab can be poured after the building has been erected. Pole buildings are known for their reliable performance and ability to withstand severe weather conditions. Common applications include equipment storage, work shops, equestrian facilities, agricultural uses, and retail stores, etc.
